Our History
Bellingham Covenant Church has been part of this community for over 120 years, and we’re still eager to love and serve the place we call home!

1905-1965
Foundations of Faith
Bellingham Covenant Church was founded in 1905, with its first facility near downtown on the corner of Forest and Champion. Rooted in the Swedish immigrant community, the congregation originally held services in Swedish before transitioning to English in 1940. This reflected a broader movement across the Evangelical Covenant Church as it grew from immigrant beginnings into a diverse and vibrant fellowship across America.

1965-2003
Seasons of Growth
In 1965, the church moved into a new facility on Sunset Avenue (the current location of Lowe’s Home Improvement), where it gathered for worship, community, and service for more than three decades. During this season, the church deepened its local impact, expanded ministries, and continued to share the hope of Christ throughout Bellingham and beyond.

2003-
Missional and Active
In 2003, our church entered a new chapter with the opening of our current campus—a space designed for worship, community, and mission. Since then, we’ve sought to live out the good news of Jesus in tangible ways, both locally and globally. Our heart is to be a people shaped by God’s Word, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sent to love and serve our neighbors. We remain committed to the historic Christian faith that formed us, while continually asking how we can embody that faith in the world today.
