World Relief Refugee Resettlement
By donating funds, office space and staff time, Bellingham Covenant played an integral role in helping launch the World Relief Western Washington office, which is a Christian humanitarian organization that contracts with the federal government to resettle refugees around the country.
Formerly known as the Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project, this organization officially became a new World Relief office (under the umbrella of World Relief Western Washington) in September 2021 and started receiving arrivals in December 2021!
Volunteer Opportunities
BCC hosts the local World Relief office’s cultural orientation classes for newly arrived refugees. These classes are important to orient participants to life in the US, and more specifically, in Whatcom County.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with transportation, childcare, and hospitality. If you cannot help for all the sessions but are available even one day, it is still helpful! To volunteer, contact Pastor Adria.
BCC will again be partnering with World Relief to help the the children of refugees prepare for school in the U.S. This year we will be holding two School Readiness Weeks, full of learning and activities, on August 5-9 and 12-16. If you are interested in volunteering in this program, click on the link at the top of the page.
If you want to know more about current opportunities, see the information here or contact Charity Garza.
