Immersion Experiences

JOURNEY TO MOSAIC
This is an immersive learning experience that originated on the west coast of the US and explores not only the history of black/white relationships but the histories of the treatment of Asian, Hispanic, and Native American communities in the US. A similar experience is offered by the Canadian Conference. 


SANKOFA
For over 20 years the Evangelical Covenant Church has offered an immersion learning experience known as Sankofa. A Swahili word, it means to look back in order to move ahead. Sankofa looks at the history of slavery, segregation, and racism in the United States over the course of a three-day bus trip through significant civil rights sites of the South.


These are very challenging, even disturbing experiences, that result in real growth and transformation in the lives of participants. Hundreds of Covenant people have participated in one or more of these experiences.
