Kingdom Work
Bellingham Covenant Church regularly supports local, national, and international organizations which "proclaim good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom to the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners" (Isaiah 61:1). Here are some of the ministries we support through financial donations, prayer, and volunteer hours.
Covenant World Relief and Development (CWRD)
CWRD works through local partners around the world to reduce human suffering for the most vulnerable people and support healthy communities. For more than 60 years, CWRD has been the Evangelical Covenant Church’s response to human suffering and injustice in the world.
The Interfaith Coalition is supported by a wide range of congregations in Whatcom County. It exists to eliminate poverty in the county by filling gaps in human services, particularly those related to transitional housing and homelessness.
KICY broadcasts from Nome, Alaska and is owned by Arctic Broadcasting Association, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit, affiliated corporation of the Evangelical Covenant Church. KICY serves native Alaskan villages throughout the Seward Peninsula, Yukon & Kuskokwim Deltas and the Russian regions of Chukotka, Kamchatka and Siberia
The Lighthouse Mission serves the homeless population of Bellingham in Christ's name. Their services include homeless shelters for men and women, a drop-in center, a home for victims of domestic violence and a discipleship program for those transitioning out of homelessness.
Whatcom Love INC is a clearinghouse of services for needy individuals and families who are referred through a network of churches in the county.
Maasai School 121
BCC supports Maasai School 121 in Tanzania, a quality school that is a road to hope and a future for the Maasai. We support this school via the non-profit organization One To One International DBA Maasai School 121. This organization first agreed to help establish a secondary school in response to the Maasai community’s request. Local Maasai leaders participate in major decisions concerning the school, and the school board and leadership consist of local Maasai community members.
New Way Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based organization that provides transitional housing for women and their children. Their mission is to minister to the immediate needs of each woman and child who come to their home, providing compassionate care and counsel in a loving Christian atmosphere. New Way Ministries is part of the Christian Hope Association in Lynden, WA.
Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic
WCPC provides free ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, mentoring and a number of other services to help both women and men navigate through the stress of unplanned pregnancies.
World Relief of Western Washington
World Relief works to resettle refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution from around the globe. BCC was instrumental in launching a refugee resettlement office with World Relief in Whatcom County. Read more about how BCC is involved here.
