Group Life

Small groups offer a chance for us to grow, serve, and share life together. We believe that God can shape us as disciples through intentional friendships of depth and vulnerability where “iron can sharpen iron” (Prov. 27:17). None of us sees all of there is about God, Scripture, or an issue; we need one another to see and understand a fuller picture. And it is in supporting and encouraging one another that we can be faithful to God’s call.

We have a variety of groups meeting throughout the week at BCC, online, and in homes. Check out the list and see which one fits you!

Soul Space: Wednesday Morning Contemplative Prayer

  • Wednesdays, 8:30-9:00 AM via Zoom

  • Join Pastor Phil in a group lectio divina practice based on the upcoming sermon scripture and to pray together. (Link is on our home page.)

Prime Timers Potluck

  • 1st Thursday of the month, 12:30-2 PM - Dining Room

  • Meet with other seniors for a time of food, fellowship, and conversation around various topics

College and Career Group: We have a monthly gathering for those who are in college or early in their career (age 18-29). Join us for food, connection and conversation! For more info, contact Pastor Phil.

Faith and Human Sexuality Conversations for Parents

On the first Wednesdays of the month this fall and winter, we are going to host a number of conversations related to issues of gender and human sexuality. Some of the topics will include:

  • How do we have productive and edifying conversations around divisive subjects?

  • How do we engage our children in conversations around human sexuality?

  • What is the right posture for Christians to have toward the LGBTQ+ community?

  • How do we think theologically and pastorally about same-sex marriage and transgender issues?

  • How and why have Christians come to different conclusions on these issues?

  • How has the Covenant Church navigated the tensions around human sexuality?

This group will be led by Pastor Phil Rushton and Rachel Gulleson. While this group is geared toward parents, we welcome all who are interested in participating.  (Oct 2, Nov 6, Dec 4, Jan 8, Feb 5 from 6:30-8 PM in the BCC Library)

Women’s Groups

Monday Mom’s Group

  • Monday, 6:30 PM — Foyer

  • A group of moms with children ranging from infants to teenagers. We study together and get to know one another better in order to support and pray for one another.

Monday Evening Women in the Word

  • 6:30-8 PM — Lounge, in homes

  • A group of women who desire to grow in community and dive deeper in the Word together one book at a time, using an inductive study format. This year we are studying the book of Genesis. We meet at the church on the 1st and 3rd Friday for Bible study and prayer and in homes on the 2nd and 4th Friday for fellowship and a play date. Open to all ages and life stages.

Wednesday Evening Women’s Bible Study

  • Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 PM — Zoom

  • Women of any age are invited to gather for Bible study and prayer in a very supportive community. We start with a time of connection at 6:30. We study the Bible chapter by chapter using a homiletics format, which allows us to dig deeper into the scriptures and develop applications. On alternate weeks, we spend the time in prayer using praise, silent confession, thanksgiving, and intercession formats.

La Sobremesa

  • Thursdays, 7:00 PM — in homes

  • La Sobremesa means "around the table.” This word encompasses the life that is lived, the community that is formed, and the lessons that are learned as we gather together. We are inviting women from all generations and all seasons of life who have a desire to grow an intentional community with one another. Our vision is a weekly commitment to be present, to be vulnerable, and to grow together at the table of Christ.

Friday Morning Women’s Bible Study

  • Friday, 9:30-11:30 AM — Classroom C

  • Open to all ages! Come join us for a cup of coffee, Bible study, and prayer. We’re currently studying Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy, a study by Beth Moore.

Bible Study Fellowship (BSF)

  • If you are looking for an in-depth inductive Bible study with the opportunity to connect in a small group with other women, this might be a great fit. This year the community-wide BSF will be studying Revelation. Childcare is available.

Sunday Night Men’s Group, aka “BCC Gents”

  • Sundays, 6:30 PM — Youth Room

  • Working-age men reflecting on the gospel of Mark, with a once-a-month social time.

Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study

  • 7:00 AM — Classroom C

  • A before-work men's group, gathering to study the Bible and pray for one another. All ages are welcome, working and retired!
